How to Design your new kitchen!

Choose if you like Framed or Frame-less (Euro) Cabinets.

At Cabinets Plus LLC, we believe a Framed Box is the best choice, however we make our frame-less sturdy also. We dado the pieces together to strengthen the structure as opposed to how many are built by just screwing the sides in place.

Tips & Thoughts:

  1. Try to center your sink cabinet under the center of the window whenever possible.
  2. Place a dishwasher (if using one) on either side of the sink base. Place it where it is most convenient for you.
  3. Decide if you will have Refrigerator end panels. They are preferred if within the budget and if space allows as they provide a nice finished look. Allow for ¾” space to 1 ½” space or 3” space depending upon your personal preference. If the cabinets are Euro (Frame-less) design, ¾” is customary.
  4. Consider glass insert panels for Cabinet Upper Doors. Ask us about different design patterns!
  5. Consider a valance panel across the fronts of windows that connects from one cabinet to another or perhaps a shelf across if room allows.

6. Choose Your Overlay Style (See samples above)

7. If using a custom wood hood, keep in mind that a space of 30” from the top of the range to the bottom of the hood is standard, check the appliance specs or provide them to us for manufacturer recommendations.

8. Consider staggering the height of wall cabinets for a “skyline” look.

9. Consider bumping out sink bases, especially looks nice on Farm Sinks and Cook Top Bases. Another nice look is to add decorative elements such as turned half posts or fluted panels.

Most of all, have fun, get excited. Re-doing your kitchen can be stressful and messy, but envision the final outcome and remain positive! Plan ahead of how your life will function without a kitchen for 4 to 8 weeks and prepare for that. Will you eat out a lot or microwave more? Some people set up a temporary kitchen space that works well. Take your time and plan well. Once things get started making last minute changes add up a lot of additional expense! If we can be of any help, let us know, communication is key!

We have done countless kitchens, so we know and understand the complications that can arise but we also know and understand today's kitchen layout principles which can really help you out - we love to help!!
